Youth marries transgender woman in Beed

Aurangabad: The ancient Kankaleshwar temple of Lord Shiva at Beed on Monday witnessed a wedding in which a younf artist, Balu Dhutadmal married, Sapna, a transgender woman.
While the couple have been in love with each other for more than two years, they decided to become life partners. It became possible with the support from government authorities and local social workers. Assistant commissioner of the social welfare department Sachin Madavi stood in as Sapna’s father during the traditional ceremony.
Balu said he was on cloud nine after getting the life partner of his choice. “We will strive to lead a happy marital life,” he said.
Sapna said people should not look down upon transgender community. “I pray that my marriage will bring a new chapter in the welfare of the transgender community,” Sapna said.
Madavi, who is a doctor, said adequate police bandobast was arranged in the wake of possibly of certain elements trying to thwart the marriage ceremony. “I graced the event to express solidarity with the couple, which is the duty of my department,” he said.
