Uttar Pradesh: Brahmins kill Dalit man for touching idol of God
A shocking incident of Dalit atrocity has come to light from Uttar Pradesh’s Pratapgarh district. A 50-year-old Dalit man, Jagroop, was allegedly murdered by two Brahmin men after touching the idol of God. An FIR has been registered against Sandeep Mishra and Kuldeep Mishra. A video of this incident went viral on social media on Monday.
Sharing a news clip of this incident on Twitter, Aam Aadmi Party leader Sanjay Singh wrote that a Dalit man was killed for touching the idol of God. That cruelty had happened even after 75 years of independence.
The Pratapgarh police have informed on Twitter that based on the complaint received in this matter, a case has been registered under relevant sections of the Indian Panel Code (IPC). Strict instructions have been given to the Inspector-in-Charge Patti for the speedy arrest of the accused. Another necessary legal action was being taken in advance.
Social media users started criticizing the Yogi Adityanath government after this incident. One Ishwar Dutt Maurya wrote that BJP came into power with the slogan of Sabka Sath and Sabka Vikas but casteism increased in their government. The government itself was promoting Manuvad. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has not spoken even once in this matter. He should instruct that no one (Dalit) should go to the temple.
Another user wrote that it was the face of real development in Uttar Pradesh. Only casteism and hatred have developed across the country and in Uttar Pradesh under the BJP government.
This was not the first case of Dalit atrocities in Uttar Pradesh. Two Dalit sisters were allegedly gang-raped and murdered on September 15 in the Nighasan area of Uttar Pradesh’s Lakhimpur Kheri district. Six accused were arrested in this matter. According to the victim’s mother, they were kidnapped by three bike-borne men.
