Upper caste men barge into Dalit wedding, vandalise venue over Dalit groom riding horse in front of upper castes in Kanpur
A video has come to light from Uttar Pradesh’s Kanpur where a group of upper caste men allegedly barged into a wedding venue of Dalit man after being agitated by the Dalit groom riding a horse in front of Upper caste men. According to reports, the people in the wedding fled the seen and hid in the guesthouse.
The video of the incident was captured on the CCTV camera which was installed near the wedding venue.
In the video, a mob of men with sticks can be causing ruckus inside the wedding venue as they break down the pandal of wedding in order to teach the Dalit man a lesson. In the cideo, the mob can also be seen throwing containers at the gate of the wedding venue.
The video also shows the man banging their sticks against the door of the guesthouse where the guests of the wedding hid. The upper caste mob also pulled apart the wedding Pandal.
Twitter reaction
After the video went viral, many people came forward to remark on the incident as one Twitter user came forward and wrote that that the incident is indeed very saddening and dissapointing. Another user added to the conversation as they wrote that upper caste people have been rampantly growing their descrimination against Muslim and Dalit people.
Another user also added that this is the truth of 21st century India, the user further launched an attack against the Uttar Pradesh governmetn and remarked that they have complacently overlooked the issues of caste based violence. The user also alleged that, contrary to affirmative actions, the human rights of people of backward castes are not being safegaurded.
