In the UP by-election, BSP was missing from the main fight at more or less everywhere. This brought BJP and SP into a direct fight. Dalit voters were seen divided on many seats, which made the calculations a little difficult. The result will be in the favour of the one in whose favour Dalit voters go more. In Kundarki, BJP was seen making a dent in Muslim votes, which is being considered quite surprising. A close contest is expected between SP and BJP in Sisamau. Out of the total 48 polling booths here, BSP’s bag was not seen in more than half and independent candidate’s bag was not seen in any.
Dalit voters proved decisive in Katehari
The situation before voting in Katehari by-election was different. Then the contest was considered triangular. There was a possibility that BSP candidate Amit Verma would give a tough blow to SP by making inroads into his caste votes, but it did not seem so during the voting. In the end, a direct contest was seen between BJP’s Dharmaraj Nishad and SP’s Shobhavati Verma. However, BSP’s performance can disturb the balance of lotus and cycle. According to political experts, if BSP manages the caste equation along with its traditional votes, then SP’s calculations can be disturbed.
Direct fight between uncle and nephew in Karhal
A total of 7 candidates were in the fray for Karhal assembly elections. But, the direct contest was between SP candidate Tej Pratap Yadav and BJP candidate Anuj Singh. At the same time, BSP candidate Avnish Shakya was also seen relying on BSP’s traditional vote bank.
Muslims and Dalits were not seen together in Meerapur
After voting in Meerapur assembly by-election, a round of political speculations has started. The contest was seen to be narrowing down between RLD candidate Mithlesh Pal and SP candidate Sumbul Rana. There was a fight for the third position between BSP and ASP candidates. The results are likely to be decided by the percentage of votes in villages with a majority of Muslim votes.
In villages with a majority of extremely backward class and Jat votes, the trend was seen in favor of the RLD candidate. Voters mobilized in favor of the RLD candidate in Bhokarheri, Karhera, Belda and other villages. In Kakaroli, Sikri, Meerapur, Jatwada, Jaoli, which are advocates of Muslim votes, Muslim voters were seen divided between SP, BSP and ASP in the morning. After the stone pelting in Kakaroli, the mobilization of Muslim votes was seen more in support of the SP candidate. There was a split among the Scheduled Caste voters in Meerapur. The youth preferred ASP, while BSP appeared to be the first choice of other voters. Dalit voters also came in the share of BJP-RLD alliance. SP did not seem to be successful in making Dalit-Muslim formula here. Everyone’s eyes are also on the division of votes of Gujjars.
Kundarki: Muslim votes divided in direct contest between BJP-SP
In Kundarki by-election, Muslim votes were divided in direct contest between BJP and SP. BJP candidate Ramveer Singh was successful in making a dent in the traditional vote bank of SP. Voters were seen going with BJP even in Muslim areas. Whereas in many villages Muslim voters went with Azad Samaj Party i.e. ASPA and AIMIM. 12 candidates are in the fray in Kundarki by-election. This includes BJP, SP, BSP, Azad Samaj Party, AIMIM and independent candidates. In Kundarki assembly seat which has about 65 percent Muslim voters, all the candidates except BJP candidate Ramveer Singh are Muslims. In such a situation, all the candidates kept an eye on Muslim voters of SP. Contrary to its image, BJP was seen making a dent in the vote bank of SP in many areas. Ruckus during voting in Sisamau
In Sisamau by-election, voters started coming out from 7 am. There was protest since morning against the barriers put up by the police. Angry at the barricading all around the Maqbara of Gwaltoli area, the people of the area created a ruckus accusing the police of stopping the voters from voting. At the same time, SP and BJP people came face to face at GIC in Chunniganj accusing each other of getting fake votes cast and beating up the agent. Someone threw a stone at the car of the BJP candidate at Lalimli intersection. Angry with this, BJP workers again created a ruckus. BJP candidate Suresh Awasthi created a ruckus accusing SP people of beating his agent Zubair Khan at booth number 53.
In Phulpur, SP is ahead in some places, BJP is ahead in others
12 candidates are trying their luck in Phulpur assembly by-election. But, the main contest is between BJP-SP. In some areas, SP was ahead, while in some, BJP was ahead. The result will be decided on who the Dalit voters voted for. On the other hand, a direct contest was seen between the SP and BJP candidates on the Khair seat of Aligarh.
