UP: 25-year-old Dalit woman raped in Pratapgarh, 65-year-old accused arrested
A case of rape of a Dalit woman has come to light in Pratapgarh, UP. The police have registered an FIR on the complaint of the victim and arrested the accused elderly man. The age of the accused is 65 years. The woman has also accused the accused of threatening to kill her if she tells anyone about it.
An elderly man has been arrested in the case of rape of a 25-year-old Dalit woman in Pratapgarh, UP. Regarding this shameful incident, the police said that the incident took place in a village and the accused has been identified as 65-year-old Rikhiram Maurya.
Giving information about the case, Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP) Sanjay Rai said that the victim alleged in her complaint that Maurya raped her last week and threatened to kill her if she tells anyone about the incident.
Rape accused arrested
According to the news agency report, based on the complaint, the police have registered an FIR against Maurya under the Indian Penal Code and Scheduled Castes and Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act.
After the victim’s complaint, the police took immediate action and arrested the accused Rikhiram Maurya. The police is investigating further in this case. Regarding this, ASP Sanjay Rai said that the statement of the victim has been recorded and medical examination is also being done so that the investigation process can be strengthened.
