Two youths arrested for trying to outrage modesty of Dalit girl

Muzaffarnagar, Two youths have been arrested for trying to outrage modesty of a 16-year-old Dalit girl in Sikheda area of ??Muzaffarnagar.

Police Circle Officer Rupali Rao said on Tuesday that Tasin and Shalim were arrested on Monday after the victim’s father lodged a complaint at Sikheda police station. Both are said to be around 20 years old.

He said that it has been alleged in the complaint that both the accused tried to outrage the modesty of the minor girl on September 8 and also made casteist remarks against her.

Rao said that the accused also threatened the girl not to tell anyone about the incident or else she will have to face serious consequences.

He said that a case has been registered against the accused under Indian Penal Code sections 74 (assault or use of criminal force on a woman with intent to outrage her modesty), 78 (stalking), 352 (intentional insult with intent to provoke breach of peace) and Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act and SC/ST Atrocities Prevention Act.
