Tribal Student Murdered for Refusing to Apply Gulaal – Outrage Over Law and Order Failure in Rajasthan

Dausa- In a shocking incident in Lalsot, Dausa district of Rajasthan, a student named Hansraj Meena was brutally murdered in a library. A video of the incident has gone viral on social media, with claims that the student was killed simply because he refused to apply gulaal (colored powder) during a celebration.
The incident has sparked widespread outrage, with social media users calling it a major failure of the Bhajanlal government’s law and order machinery. Demands for strict action against the culprits are growing.
Following Hansraj’s death, his enraged family forcibly took his body from the Lalsot District Hospital and staged a protest on National Highway 148, near the library.
Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP) Dinesh Agrawal and police teams from several stations in Lalsot immediately reached the spot.
The highway was blocked for nearly 8 hours, causing significant traffic disruptions. Late at night, around 1:30 AM, the family members of the deceased placed their demands, including Rs 50 lakh in compensation, a government job, and the arrest of the accused. The police assured them of appropriate action.
A video of the incident has surfaced, showing students studying in a library run by an organization within the premises of a government school in Ralawas. In the video, Hansraj is seen studying while sitting on a tilted chair. Another student touches the chair as he passes by, leading to an argument and eventually a physical altercation. Three students are seen assaulting Hansraj.
The situation escalates when some women and students are heard arguing over applying gulaal. It is believed that the entire dispute began over Hansraj’s refusal to apply gulaal. However, the police are still investigating the exact cause of the altercation.
Hansraj Meena, a tribal rights activist and founder of the Tribal Army, condemned the incident, stating, “Hansraj , a student studying in a library in Lalsot, Dausa, was brutally murdered simply because he refused to apply gulaal.
