Transgender driver shot dead in Uttar Pradesh’s Jaunpur
VARANASI: Some miscreants shot the driver of the eunuchs’ vehicle at Rambagh Colony near Baba Keenaram Ashram in front of St. Patrick’s School in the Line Bazaar police station area of Jaunpur district on Thursday. Upon receiving the incident report, police arrived and sent the injured to the district hospital, where doctors declared him dead.
The Jaunpur ASP (City), Arvind Kumar Verma, said that the Line Bazaar police station received information that a person named Gopal Vishwakarma, who lived among the transgender community, was shot and killed in Rambagh Colony. The police arrived at the scene, collected evidence, and sent the body for a post-mortem examination.
He said that the initial investigation suggests that this incident may be the result of a power struggle among the transgender community.
Further evidence collection is underway, and subsequent legal action will be taken based on the post-mortem report and other evidence.
