Three sentenced to 4 years for Dalit harassment
First Additional District and Sessions Judge cum Special Judge Digvijay Kumar has imposed a sentence of four years imprisonment and a fine of Rs 10,000 each to three accused in a 25-year-old case of Dalit atrocities.
The convicted accused are Chanchal Pandey, Gulen Pandey and Vishodhaya Pandey, residents of Mangalpur in Nautan police station area. Special Public Prosecutor Vijay Bahadur Singh said that on February 28, 1995, the accused had assaulted and humiliated the nephew of his villager Mangroo Baitha with casteist abusing.
After the hearing of the case which lasted for 25 years, the special judge has sentenced the accused to 4 years under the section of Dalit Atrocities and fined Rs 10,000 each, as well as other relevant sections of Bhadwa.
