the parents were minors at the time of birth, such cases are more in Dalit-Tribal society.
More than 200 daughters of Guna district of Madhya Pradesh are not able to become ‘Laadli Lakshmi’. The parents of some do not have the necessary documents, while the mother of some has given birth while a minor. There are 205 girls in the district who are not getting the benefits of the scheme. This figure is for 2023. Most of these girls belong to Dalit or tribal community.
It is also clear from the statistics that child marriages are still taking place in Dalit and tribal communities. The society is also recognizing them. The brunt of this is being borne by those daughters whose mother is married below the age of 18 years and whose father is married below the age of 21 years.
However, Guna Collector Amanbir Singh Bains says that the administration is working in this direction. Efforts are being made to somehow provide the benefits of the scheme to these girls. A list of such girls has been sought from the Women and Child Development Department.
Dainik Bhaskar has investigated some such cases. Went to tribal dominated areas and talked to the people who were not getting benefits. Tried to find out the reason for this. Read the report…
Mother was a minor at the time of daughter’s birth
A similar case came to light in the Anganwadi located in Giani Ji’s enclosure in Guna city. Golu, who lives here, got married to Mehak two years ago. Mehak’s current age is 18 years. Mehak gave birth to a baby girl on 8 April 2023. She was a minor at the time of her birth. Because of this his daughter is not able to get the benefits of the scheme. Apart from this, the age of Mehak’s husband Golu is recorded as 14 years in the composite ID. Her husband says that the age has been written as less by mistake, which he is trying to rectify.

Whereas, Malkhan is married to Pooja. Pooja gave birth to a baby girl on 7 September 2023. Pooja’s age in the base is 17 years. In all three cases the mother’s age is less than 18 years. Because of this their daughters are not able to get the benefits of the scheme.

There is another case in the same village, in which Monu is married to Kavita. Kavita’s age is written as 16 years in the overall ID. Kavita does not even have an Aadhar card. Kavita told that she has studied till 5th class, but she does not have documents. Due to this the process is not progressing.
Collector said – have brought it to the notice of the state government
Collector Amanbir Singh Bains said that information about such cases has been collected. If a woman gets married below the age of 18 years, then as per the rules her daughter is not considered eligible for Ladli Lakshmi Yojana. Such cases have come to notice. Counseling sessions are scheduled in specific areas.
Now let us know- what is Ladli Lakshmi Yojana?
This is an ambitious plan of former Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chauhan. The state government started it from 1 April 2007. After Madhya Pradesh, 6 other states also implemented it in their states.
Reason for not getting benefits of the scheme
Child Marriage: A girl should not get married before 18 years and a boy should not get married before 21 years. There are many areas in the district where marriages take place before this age. In such a situation, the child is deprived of the benefits of the scheme. Because the age of his/her mother or father is less than the prescribed age of marriage in the Aadhar card.
Birth of a daughter while a minor: Some cases have also come to light in which a girl was married while she was a minor. Gave birth to a girl while still a minor. Because of this the benefit of that scheme will not be available. After this, if she gives birth to another girl child in adulthood, she will get the benefit of the scheme.
Samagra ID: To avail the benefits of the scheme, it is necessary to have his parents’ and his name linked in the Samagra ID. In this also, the age of mother should be 18 years and father’s age should be 21 years in the documents. If either of the two is under age, the portal will not accept the application. Even if mother’s name is not included, the application will be rejected. Generally people do not get this done, because after marriage the wife’s name gets added to the total. Due to her name not being added, the girl child is not able to avail the benefit.
