Ambedkarites of Vancouver, Canada called it Dr. Ambedkar International Symposium for Emancipation and Equality Day. That is, this international seminar is being organized in the form of Liberation and Equality Day. The program will run from April 21 to April 26. The program is being jointly organized by Chetna Association of Canada and Ambedkarite International Co-ordination Society (AICS).
Ambedkarites from different parts of the world are reaching to participate in this international seminar. During this, programs will be organized for six consecutive days on all the principles given by Babasaheb Ambedkar. It includes all the important topics ranging from Buddhism to the principle of equality given by Babasaheb Dr. Ambedkar.
Judge Neetu Badhan Smith, MLA Leela Ahir, Meera Istrada from Global Radio, Bhante Saranpala, Dalit Dastak editor Ashok Das and Raj Ratan Ambedkar will be among the special invitees for the event.
Several committees have been formed to carry out this programme. Its steering committee members include Jai Birdi, Param Kanth, Sujit Bains, Harmesh Chander, Anand Bali, Harjinder Mall. While in its Academic Advisor, JNU’s Prof. Vivek Kumar, Dr. K.P. Singh, Dr. Suraj Yengde, Dr. Sujata, Dr. Yuvraj Naranvare.
Babasaheb’s birth anniversary on April 23 will be celebrated as Equality Day in this event which will run from April 21 to April 26. Whereas on April 24, wreaths will be placed on the statue of Babasaheb Dr. Ambedkar in Burnaby city of Canada.
Canada’s Burnaby is that historic city, where the City Council has declared Babasaheb’s birth anniversary on April 14 in 2020 as ‘Dr. Ambedkar had announced to celebrate it as ‘Day of Equality’. Last year in 2022, Canada’s British Columbia Province had announced to celebrate the month of April as ‘Dalit History Month’. Canadian Ambedkarite organizations Chetna Association of Canada and Ambedkarite International Co-ordination Society (AICS) had an important role in both these big announcements.
I have also been invited to this event. And from April 18th to May 8th, I will be attending many other events, including this one, in Canada. There I will keep my point on the subject of cost and media. Surely such programs will play a vital role in bringing together Ambedkarites from all over the world and taking a new thought to the world. Such events should continue to happen.
