TDP’s Varla Ramaiah Criticizes Andhra Pradesh CM Over Party Management and Alleged Dalit Discrimination
Varla Ramaiah, a prominent member of the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) politburo, has voiced strong criticism against Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy. Ramaiah has accused Reddy of operating the Yuvajana Sramika Rythu Congress Party (YSRCP) in a manner akin to a private company, stifling the democratic ethos inherent to political parties.

Allegations of Undermining Dalit Representation
Ramaiah has leveled charges suggesting that Reddy is subverting the political stability of Dalit Members of Legislative Assembly (MLAs). The Chief Minister has allegedly not permitted 12 Dalit MLAs to contest elections from their current constituencies. This move, as per Ramaiah, is a calculated strategy to prevent these representatives from cementing their political standing. The Dalit community, which was instrumental in Reddy’s ascension to power, now finds itself at the receiving end of what Ramaiah terms as ‘humiliation’.
A Public Display of Disparities
The TDP politburo member also referenced a public meeting in Tirupati, where the treatment meted out to the Deputy Chief Minister, a senior citizen from the Dalit community, starkly contrasted that of other party members. The incident, he suggests, is symptomatic of the larger issue of caste-based discrimination within the YSRCP.
Internal Dissent and Leadership Crisis
Further, Ramaiah pointed out the simmering internal dissent within the YSRCP, indicating a crisis of confidence in Reddy’s leadership. He went as far as to suggest that Reddy’s inability to manage the party effectively underscores his unsuitability for the position of Chief Minister. Ramaiah even predicted that Reddy might be hard-pressed to maintain his position as the Leader of the Opposition in the future, a sentiment, he claims, that is echoed by leaders within the YSRCP itself.
