Specially abled& transgenders operate petrol pump in Sircilla
Hyderabad: India’s first petrol pump operated by specially abled and transgenders was inaugurated in Sircilla. Located near Govt Medical College on Second Bypass Road, the pump provides employment to 24 persons who were trained by district authorities.
“This petrol pump was established to provide employment opportunities for specially abled and transgender communities. ,” said Sandeep Kumar Jha, Collector of Rajanna Sircilla district.
The project, part of an economic rehabilitation program, was directed by the govt. The Rajanna Sircilla district administration allocated land worth 2.5 crore, while the construction was funded by a 2.5 crore investment from Indian Oil Corporation .
“This opportunity has brought us financial stability,” said Akula Sandhya from Peddur, one of the employees working at the petrol pump.
Vemula Srinivas, another employee from Thadagonda, added, “It’s commendable that the state govt has set up this petrol pump to employ people like us. We were also trained to manage the pump.”
The petrol pump, which was inaugurated on December 7, is already seeing daily sales of 1 lakh.
