SCR general manager Arun Kumar Jain says the zone was committed to providing the right platform and equal opportunity to all sections of society to showcase their creativity and talent
Hyderabad: As part of the One Station One Product (OSOP) initiative launched by the Ministry of Railways, the South Central Railway (SCR) has allotted an OSOP stall and trolley stand to the members of the transgender community at the newly inaugurated Charlapalli terminal station on Friday.
Speaking on the occasion, Jasmine, a transgender-entrepreneur said, “For a long time, the transgender community has faced lack of job opportunities and exclusion. But now, we have come together to start our ventures. We have been given a stall and a trolley stand, a place where we can showcase our work.”
SCR general manager Arun Kumar Jain said the zone was committed to providing the right platform and equal opportunity to all sections of society to showcase their creativity and talent.
The OSOP initiative aims to promote local and indigenous products by providing a market and creating additional income opportunities for the marginalised sections of society.
As of now, a total of 223 OSOP stalls are being operated at 205 railway stations across SCR, including 77 stations in Telangana and 104 stations under SCR jurisdiction in Andhra Pradesh.
