Rahul set to address two key Cong meetings in city today
Patna: The state Congress is all set to welcome party MP Rahul Gandhi to Patna on Saturday. Rahul’s visit includes a discussion with civil society members on the Constitution, followed by an interaction with state party leaders and workers at the party office. With crucial elections looming in Bihar later this year, Rahul’s visit holds both political and symbolic significance for the party.
Rahul is expected to land in Patna at around 11.30am via an IndiGo flight and will return in the evening. Upon his arrival, he will head to a city hotel ahead of his two back-to-back meetings. Interestingly, the RJD has also called for its national executive body meeting under the chairmanship of Lalu Prasad at the same hotel. Opposition leader Tejashwi Prasad Yadav is also expected to attend the RJD meeting. The RJD meeting is scheduled to begin at 11.30am and continue till 3pm. Rahul, Lalu and Tejashwi are all expected to be at the hotel at the same time.
“We do not have exact information on the meeting of Rahul, Lalu and Tejashwi at the hotel. But yes, if they all happen to be present at the same time at the same location, there are high chances they meet one another,” said a senior RJD functionary. Another Congress neta added, “While Rahul is expected to have his lunch at the hotel, even RJD functionaries are likely to be present there during the lunch.”
According to the official statement shared by Congress, Rahul will address the first meeting of civil society members, called the Samvidhan Suraksha Sammellan, at Bapu Sabhagar, where he will stay for around two hours. He will then leave for Sadaquat Ashram and spend nearly an hour there.
At the party office, he will address a meeting titled ‘Jai Bapu, Jai Ambedkar, Jai Samvidhan Karyakarta Sammellan’ in a tent with a capacity of around 15,000 people. He will also inaugurate a newly constructed accommodation for party workers, named Indira Bhawan, and hand over the keys to workers. Rahul will inaugurate the main hall after its renovation, which has been named after Rajiv Gandhi, the party’s media cell chairman, Rajesh Rathorre, said.
While the meeting at Bapu Sabhagar on the Constitution is part of Rahul’s ongoing national tour, his meeting at the state headquarters carries political importance as Bihar is set to face assembly elections later this year.
