New Delhi: Former President Pranab Mukherjee’s daughter Sharmistha Mukherjee has targeted Congress leader Rahul Gandhi’s supporters. Also, she hit back at her brother Abhijit Mukherjee. All this happened a few days after her allegation that the CWC meeting was not called after her father’s death. Sharmistha has addressed Rahul Gandhi’s supporters as ‘bhakt-chela’. She says that these bhakt-chelas called Pranab Mukherjee a Sanghi for his visit to the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh office in Nagpur. Sharmistha also reminded them of the incident of Rahul Gandhi hugging Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Parliament in 2018.
Sharmishtha lashed out at Rahul and his supporters
Sharmishtha Mukherjee posted on X on Monday that Rahul’s bhakt-chelas who call my father a ‘Sanghi’ for going to RSS, I challenge them to question their leader why he hugged Narendra Modi in Parliament, whom his mother used to call ‘maut ka saudagar’ (merchant of death)? By their logic, Rahul should be considered his partner. In another post, she wrote that best wishes to Rahul Gandhi for reviving the Congress with these fools and sycophants! Now come and unleash your ‘shopkeepers of hate’ on me. I don’t care! Pranab Mukherjee’s daughter also targeted her brother Abhijit Mukherjee. Abhijit had said that there should be no controversy over the death of former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh.
Abhijit Mukherjee’s reply to sister Sharmistha
Abhijit Mukherjee also responded to his sister Sharmistha Mukherjee’s statement in which she had said that she felt bad that no CWC meeting was called after the death of the former President. Talking to news agency PTI, Abhijit Mukherjee said that there should be no controversy over the death of a person like Dr. Manmohan Singh. He was an economist and a personality for whom no amount of praise would be enough. Abhijit Mukherjee further said that in my father’s language, a true gentleman, I have never seen Manmohan Singh getting angry. Whenever I met him, he was always smiling, a calm personality and a father figure. The former Congress leader said that he stabilized the Indian economy at a time when it was in turmoil, he laid the foundation of the Indian economy. A reformer like Dr. Manmohan Singh will probably never come again.
What did Abhijit say on his sister’s allegation?
Reacting to his sister’s allegation, Abhijit Mukherjee said that Covid-19 restrictions were in place during the death of Pranab Mukherjee in 2020. Pranab Mukherjee died at the age of 84 after testing positive for Covid-19. Speaking to news agency ANI, Abhijit Mukherjee defended the Congress, saying that when my father died, it was the time of Covid-19. There were many restrictions, due to which people could not gather. Even the administration of the then Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal did not allow family members to come. Only 20 family and friends were present there.
