New Delhi: A day before Independence Day, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi met President Draupadi Murmu at Rashtrapati Bhavan on Wednesday. The President’s Office shared a picture on ‘X’ and informed about this meeting. The President’s Office said in a post on ‘X’, ‘Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi met President Draupadi Murmu at Rashtrapati Bhavan.’ Rahul Gandhi met the President for the first time after assuming the charge of Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha. Earlier, Union Jal Shakti Minister CR Patel and Minister of State for Jal Shakti V Somanna also met the President.
President Murmu meets Indian Olympic team
President Draupadi Murmu met the Indian Olympic team on Wednesday and praised the performance of the players in the Paris Olympics. Rashtrapati Bhavan posted on Instagram with pictures, ‘President Murmu met the Indian contingent returning from Paris Olympics at Republic Pavilion, Rashtrapati Bhavan.’ Addressing the players, the President said that they are a source of inspiration for the youth of the country, especially the young players. India won one silver and five bronze medals in the Paris Olympics. 117 players from India participated in the Paris Olympics played from 26 July to 11 August. On this occasion, shooter Manu Bhaker, experienced hockey goalkeeper P R Sreejesh, captain Harmanpreet Singh and the rest of the bronze medal winning team members, wrestler Aman Sehrawat, shooter Swapnil Kusale, weightlifter Mirabai Chanu, badminton player Lakshya Sen were present.
Delhi borders sealed before Independence Day
Keeping in mind Independence Day, security of the national capital Delhi has been increased. Delhi Police is in full alert mode. North Delhi DCP Manoj Kumar Meena said that keeping in mind 15th August, Delhi Police has made tight security arrangements. Like every year, this year too, strict vigil is being kept from the security point of view. He said that all the security agencies are alert. Anti-terrorist arrangements and traffic arrangements are being made, so that people can comfortably enjoy the main function at the Red Fort.
