New Delhi: Bharatiya Janata Party MP Nishikant Dubey on Tuesday referred to the recent remarks of former Union Minister Anurag Thakur regarding Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi in the Lok Sabha and sarcastically said that the Congress leader is a sadhu and a sadhu has no caste. Participating in the discussion on the Finance Bill, Dubey referred to Thakur’s remarks in which he allegedly questioned the Leader of Opposition about his caste. Nishikant Dubey said that I do not completely agree with what Anurag Thakur said in the past. I would like to apologize on his behalf in this House.
The MP from Godda, Jharkhand said that the allegation he has made about caste is wrong… there is no caste. He (Gandhi) says, I am not what I look like… that’s why he is a sadhu. Nishikant Dubey said that don’t ask the caste of a sadhu. Dubey attacked the Congress for demanding a nationwide caste census.
Anurag Thakur made a mistake… but I want to ask the Congress, many people in this country do not believe in religion, caste… how will they participate in the caste-based census?
On July 30, during the discussion on the Union Budget in the Lok Sabha, Thakur had commented on Gandhi’s caste, on which a heated argument started between the opposition and the ruling party members. Anurag Thakur said that the one whose caste is not known is talking about (caste) census. On this, the opposition members said that how can this caste be asked. There was a lot of uproar in the House on this issue.
