Rahul Gandhi hails Revanth-led govt for caste survey
Hyderabad: Congress leader Rahul Gandhi has hailed the Congress govt led by chief minister A Revanth Reddy for conducting a caste census in Telangana.
In a post on social media platform ‘X’, Rahul Gandhi said his party’s govt has shown the way in Telangana and would conduct a comprehensive caste census at the national level too. “In Telangana, our govt has completed over 70% of the caste census. Soon, the govt will have detailed data of the entire state, which we will use to formulate policies and strengthen social justice. The caste census is the first of many important steps that will help plan overall development for decades to come. It is for this reason that I have repeatedly called for a comprehensive caste census in the country,” he said in his post.
In a letter to Revanth on ‘X’, Rahul Gandhi said: “During my recent visit to Hyderabad, I was impressed by the vibrant consultative process for the socio-economic, educational, employment, political and caste census. It provides a valuable model for ensuring that legislators hear directly from the people. I urge you to hold similar nationwide public consultations on the Gig Workers Bill. Hearing from all stakeholders will ensure that the law is robust, effective and meaningful. The process can also help anchor future regulations for this sector.”
The leader of the opposition in the Lok Sabha said he would be happy to be part of the consultation process. Rahul Gandhi expressed confidence that Telangana would lead the way in building a sustainable gig economy for the future.
In response, CM Revanth Reddy assured Rahul Gandhi that the state’s gig-worker policy would be comprehensive, inclusive and fair, in line with Rahul Gandhi’s “vision and promise.”
CM Revanth Reddy wrote on his X: “Dear @RahulGandhi Ji. All our work is inspired by your vision, ideas and work. It gives us more energy that the Telangana Caste Survey has made you proud.”
