It has been said in the report that in the cases of harassment of Dalits, charge sheets were filed by the concerned departments only in 76 percent of the cases.

An increase in cases has been seen every year in the last three years. According to the report, 289 cases of Dalit harassment were reported in the state in 2020. Whereas in 2021, the number of such cases has increased to 335. According to this year’s report, the number of cases recorded in 2022 was 341. Of these registered cases, charge sheets were filed only in 76 percent of the cases.
200 cases were registered in 2021
The report states that there has been a decline in crimes and atrocities against the Scheduled Castes (SC) in Punjab. At the same time, cases of harassment of Dalits have increased. 200 cases of SC crimes were registered in the state in 2021. Whereas in 2022, 162 cases have been reported.
According to NCRB, 65 trap cases in 2022
The report also states that corruption cases have increased in Punjab. An increase of 40 percent has been recorded in corruption cases. According to the report, a total of 227 cases related to the Prevention of Corruption Act were reported in 2022 compared to 162 cases registered in 2021. According to the NCRB, 65 trap cases, two disproportionate assets cases and 135 criminal misconduct cases were registered in 2022.
697 cases of cyber crime registered in 2022
An increase in incidents of economic crimes has been recorded. 3,599 cases of economic offenses were registered in 2021. Whereas in 2022 this figure will increase to 3,667. This includes cases of criminal breach of trust, forgery, fraud and criminal misappropriation. Cyber crime cases have also increased in the state. 697 cases of cyber crime have been registered in 2022. Whereas in 2021 this figure was 551.
There were 60 cases of environmental crimes
According to the report, 78 cases of crime were registered against the state in 2022. These also include cases of treason and damage to public property. There were 60 cases of environmental crimes. These were registered under the Forest Act and Wildlife Protection Act.
