Protect Hindus, majority of them Dalits, facing violence in B’desh: Maya to Centre
Lucknow: BSP president Mayawati on Saturday urged the BJP govt at the Centre to provide protection to Dalits and other weaker sections facing atrocities in Bangladesh.
“The Centre should talk to the Bangladesh govt and bring back Hindus facing violence in Bangladesh, majority of whom are Dalits and people from weaker sections,” Mayawati said.
She alleged that as part of a conspiracy by the Congress, Jessore-Khulna region of undivided Bengal, despite being a Hindu-dominant region, was given to Pakistan and then to Bangladesh.
“People of Jessore-Khulna of undivided Bengal were punished for electing Babasaheb Dr Bhimrao Ambedkar to the Constituent Assembly by being given away to Pakistan in Partition,” she claimed.
“Now, when Hindus are facing atrocities in Bangladesh, the casteist Congress party is silent on it. Instead, it is raking up the Sambhal issue in parliament to woo Muslim voters,” she said.
The BSP chief said that the opposition was not raising the matters of public interest in parliament. “Opposition parties, especially the Congress and the Samajwadi Party, are pitting Muslims against Muslims in Sambhal. The Muslim community needs to be vigilant,” she said.
“Dalit MPs are also silent on matters related to the exploitation of Dalits, whether in our own country or in Bangladesh, to appease the bosses in their parties which is unfortunate,” Mayawati said.
