Trichy: The Trichy city police have launched an investigation into the suicide of a transgender person in Trichy city on Sunday. The Gandhi market police booked a case of unnatural death of S Siva alias Jyothika, 21, of Kannakurichi in Salem . Police said that Jyothika passed away at government hospital in Salem. She had consumed juice laced with rat poison last week at an apartment at Tharanallur, where she had been living with her transgender friend.
Jyothika was admitted to the Mahatma Gandhi memorial government hospital in Trichy and later shifted to a private hospital in the city before being discharged on June 30. When Jyothika fell sick again, her family members admitted her to government hospital in Salem. Police said on Monday that there seemed to be no mystery around the death. tnn
