PM Modi slams Congress for ‘anti-women, anti-Dalit’ stand
JAIPUR: PM Narendra Modi fired twin broadsides at the opposition bloc INDIA in poll-bound Rajasthan on Monday, saying its “anti-women and anti-Dalit stand” was reflected in Congress’s silence on Bihar CM Nitish Kumar’s “indecent” remarks in the assembly and “disrespect” for a Dalit leader like Jitan Ram Manjhi.
“The ghamandiya (arrogant) alliance has initiated a campaign against women since the passage of the Women’s Reservation Bill in Parliament,” Modi said at Pali, one of his three stopovers on the campaign trail five days before the state goes to the hustings.
At Pilibangha in Hanumangarh, he again focused on women and spoke of how the Ashok Gehlot-led Congress government had failed them by making light of the state’s soaring crime graph.

‘In Diwali of democracy, ensure Congress is swept out of every corner’: PM Modi
“Gehlot has said that many complaints lodged by women are fake. Women of our nation never make false accusations about atrocities on them. He has humiliated them by speaking in this manner. Should a government that insults women go from Rajasthan or not?” he asked the crowd.
Harking back to the tax regime instituted by the erstwhile UPA government at the Centre, Modi said, “Tax was levied on incomes above Rs 2 lakh during their rule. But during the Modi government’s stint, there is practically no tax on incomes up to Rs 7 lakh. Due to the reduction in direct taxes by BJP, Rs 2.5 lakh crore is left in the pockets of the middle class.”
Modi also accused the Congress government in Rajasthan of not doing anything for farmers, including fixing minimum support prices for jowar and bajra. “They promised a loan waiver to farmers before the last assembly polls; then they auctioned off land belonging to thousands of farmers. Those who mislead farmers won’t escape punishment.”
