PM Modi Acknowledges Improved Recognition for Dalits, OBCs, and Tribals; Past Governments Limited Attention to Election Periods
Sagar (MP), Prime Minister Narendra Modi stated on Saturday that his administration has been according due respect to Dalits, OBCs, and tribals, in contrast to previous administrations that merely remembered these groups during election times while neglecting them otherwise

He further pointed out that prior governments had failed to provide water to the impoverished, whereas under his administration’s Jal Jeevan Mission, Dalit settlements, underprivileged neighborhoods, and tribal regions now have access to piped water.
During a public event in Dhana, situated in Madhya Pradesh’s Sagar district, the prime minister participated in the ‘bhoomi pujan’ (groundbreaking ritual) and laid the foundation stone for the construction of a temple-memorial worth Rs 100 crore dedicated to the social reformer and mystic poet Sant Ravidas in the village of Badtuma.
Following the ‘bhoomi pujan’, Modi respectfully bowed before the idol of Sant Ravidas. He also examined the miniature model of the upcoming memorial-temple presented during the event.In Dhana, Modi inaugurated the doubling of the Bina-Kota railway line project and also initiated the groundwork for several road projects.
The prime minister highlighted that the forthcoming temple-memorial of Sant Ravidas incorporates soil from thousands of villages and water from over 300 rivers. He emphasized that Sant Ravidas, born during the tumultuous Mughal era characterized by instability and injustices, initiated a movement against social ills.
Modi commented, “Previous governments, which held power for decades, failed to ensure water supply for the underprivileged, Dalits, and tribal areas. The Jal Jeevan Mission has changed this, offering piped water to these sections. These groups were merely remembered during elections by the past administrations.”
He further asserted, “Our government accords the due respect that Dalits, OBCs, and tribals deserve.”Reflecting on the period of the COVID-19 pandemic, the prime minister noted that he was resolute in ensuring that no one went hungry during the crisis. He added that the world has praised their free ration scheme for the needy throughout the pandemic.
The events in Sagar district marked the culmination of the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party’s ‘Samrasta (harmony) Yatras’, which commenced on July 25 from five locations within the state.According to officials, the temple-memorial dedicated to Sant Ravidas will encompass 11 acres of land. The structure will showcase the teachings of Sant Ravidas and provide residential facilities for devotees, along with a museum, art gallery, and other amenities. (Agencies)
