Pitroda biggest foe of Cong: Diggy’s brother Lakshman
Bhopal: Former Congress parliamentarian Lakshman Singh on Thursday targeted the party’s overseas chairman, Sam Pitroda, over an interview he gave to PTI on Wednesday ahead of Rahul Gandhi’s first visit to the US.
“He is the biggest enemy of Congress. He is creating differences between father and son,” Lakshman tweeted.
In the interview, Pitroda had said: “The difference between Rahul and Rajiv (Gandhi), maybe, is that Rahul is much more intellectual, a thinker. Rajiv was more of a doer. They have the same DNA. They have the same concerns for people. Rahul is a strategist more than Rajiv was.” Pitroda also said that Rahul has all the qualities to be the Prime Minister.
Lakshman’s tweet triggered controversy. He deleted the tweet a few hours later, but by then, a political storm had broken out.
State BJP president VD Sharma came out to support Lakshman’s view. “Pitroda has been giving a lot of controversial statements, including one on inheritance tax. It’s unfortunate that in Congress, this is a time for extreme sycophancy. And in such times, what would Sam Pitroda do? In Congress, the whole world revolves around a single family, so he is also in the sycophancy race. This is the way to get close to the family. The country and society are fully aware of these facts. That is why a former MLA of Congress has replied to Pitroda’s comments.”
Lakshman, Congress MP Digvijaya Singh’s brother, is a five-time MP from Rajgarh — four times for Congress and the last time for BJP. This isn’t his first time in the eye of a controversy.
Congress, again finding itself with its back to the wall after a Lakshman Singh post, had a hard time explaining it.
“Both Sam Pitroda and Lakshman Singh are very respectable and important leaders. I respect them. But I feel it is Lakshman Singh’s personal opinion. Only he can explain why he spoke the way about Sam Pitroda,” said PCC spokesman Avaneesh Bundela.
In July, Lakshman had again left Congress red-faced after criticising Rahul Gandhi’s maiden speech in Lok Sabha as Leader of Opposition, where he alleged that BJP leaders are not Hindus but those who spread “violence and hatred”.
“The comments made on Hindus in Parliament are indecent and unnecessary. It would be appropriate only to raise those issues that are related to people and the country,” Lakshman had said.
Diggy’s brother Lakshman calls Pitroda Congs biggest enemyFormer MLA Lakshman Singh criticized Congress leader Sam Pitroda for his remarks on Rahul and Rajeev Gandhi, calling him the party’s biggest enemy. The BJP supported Singhs criticism, highlighting sycophancy within Congress. This incident adds to previous controversies involving Singhs comments that have caused political ripples in the state.113101824
