Panic in Dalit colony due to fear of police, most of the men left the ward
Jaunpur. In the uproar arising out of placing the idol of Saint Shiromani Guru Ravidas in a ward of the local area, the police party which went to raid the ward late on Wednesday evening to arrest the miscreants was accused of vandalizing the house and damaging the bike. He says that the heavy police has misbehaved with him. Women have also not been spared. Those who spoiled the atmosphere fled from the spot but the residents of the locality are bearing the brunt of it.
When the team of media persons reached, widow Chandra, Sakshi (14 years), Harak (65), Sanjana (19) and Mahima (18 years) told that the police had beaten them brutally. The doors of the house have also been broken. The police did not listen to them. The semi-mad Vijendra was also beaten with sticks by the police. When the team moved ahead, another woman Sunita alleged that her husband Chandresan drives a rickshaw. When no man was found at the door, the glass of the parked vehicle was shattered.
Similarly, Devi also accused the police and said that the main door was broken and three bikes of the locality were damaged by the police by injuring them with sticks. Regarding the allegations, Police Station Head Deependra Singh said that the allegation of committing an orgy is false. The police team had gone to raid to arrest the accused. The miscreants spoiled the atmosphere and ran home.
