Our goal is to give representation to Dalits, tribals, OBCs, minority communities, women and youth – Rahul Gandhi
Raipur: Former Congress president Rahul Gandhi said on Friday after the start of the party’s general convention that it is the goal of his party to give representation to Dalits, tribals, other backward classes (OBCs), minority communities, women and youth.
He said in a Facebook post that the 85th session of the Congress Party is a glimpse of our common heritage. Our values and our culture of giving respect to all is our real strength. Our goal is to give representation to Dalits, Tribals, OBCs, minority communities, women and youth. Rahul Gandhi said that we will continue to fight against the atmosphere of hatred and bigotry created in the country. We will continue to raise the voice of the poor, farmers, laborers and the underprivileged. We will convey this message of Congress to the people.
The three-day convention of the Congress began on Thursday. The party’s steering committee unanimously decided that the members of the Congress Working Committee (CWC), the top policy-making body of the party, would not be elected, but party president Mallikarjun Kharge would be authorized to nominate members. An amendment to the Congress constitution was also proposed, under which 50 per cent representation for SCs, STs, OBCs, women, youth and minority communities is to be ensured and secured at all levels in the organization of the party. source language
