Our children will not eat this… Dalit woman cooked food in school and Hindu families boycotted it
Casteism has become so prevalent in Thoothukudi district of Tamil Nadu that Hindu parents here refused to give their children breakfast in school under the government scheme. The authorities had to intervene in this, however, even after persuasion, the parents were not ready to agree.
A case of casteism has come to light in Thoothukudi, Tamil Nadu. Here Hindu parents have forced children not to eat the breakfast provided under the government scheme. The parents have given the reason behind this that the food provided under the CM Breakfast Scheme has been prepared by a Dalit woman. On this, all the top officials from the Social Welfare Minister of the state have intervened and explained to the people.
According to the information, this entire matter is from Ettayapuram of the district. Here, breakfast is distributed to children under the scheme of the state government. The breakfast served here is being prepared by a Dalit woman, so Hindu parents have reportedly asked their children to skip breakfast. In this entire matter, State Social Welfare and Women Empowerment Minister P Geeta Jeevan, Revenue Officer and Tehsildar have intervened in the entire matter.
In fact, most of the children did not eat the breakfast provided in the Union Primary School of Usilampatti in the district. The parents of the children said that their children have breakfast while going to school, hence they do not eat the breakfast provided in the school. Later it came to light that most of the backward class and extremely backward class people have asked their children not to have breakfast. A meeting of officials with all such Hindu parents was held on Monday which remained inconclusive. Parents should be informed about their decision that the founder leader of pro-Dalit party Viduthalai Chiruthaigal Katchi (VCK) and Member of Parliament Thol Thirumavalavan had told the state government a few days ago that caste related atrocities are still continuing in Tirunelveli and Thoothukudi districts. . He made this statement while targeting the government over the attack on two Dalit students going to school in Vannarpettai.
