Odisha cabinet nod to family pension availing rights to transgender people
Bhubaneswar, The cabinet of Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Monday decided to accord rights to transgender people to avail family pension akin to unmarried women, Chief Secretary S C Mohapatra said.
It also decided to reduce VAT on the sale of Aviation Turbine Fuel to 1 per cent.
A total of 15 proposals got the cabinet’s nod during a meeting here during the day.
The state government also got the approval on the estimated budget for the 2023-24 fiscal, Mohapatra said after the meeting.
The cabinet decided to add transgender people as beneficiaries of the family pension. The Odisha Civil Service (Pension) Rules, 1992 will be amended for the purpose.
The state government also decided to reduce Value Added Tax to 1 per cent on sale of ATF to RCS (regional connectivity scheme) aircraft in any landing facility in Odisha.
The cabinet also approved the setting up of a water treatment plant to supply safe drinking water to Bhubaneswar. PTI AAM ACD ACD
