By Jaykishan Sharma: The accused men in the alleged gang-rape and murder of a Dalit girl are yet to be arrested and they continue to be held in the police station for nearly four days now in Rajasthan’s Bikaner. The woman’s family accused three people, including two constables, of raping her, the police said, adding that both the policemen were suspended immediately.
The victim’s family has refused to accept the body and began a sit-in outside the mortuary, demanding the arrest of the accused and their termination.
“The accused have been kept under surveillance. They will be arrested if found guilty in the investigation,” Bikaner range’s inspector general of police (IG) Om Prakash said.
On Wednesday, a medical board conducted an autopsy of the girl’s body and prima facie concluded that the victim died due to profuse bleeding. Her viscera samples have been sent to a forensic lab for further examination.
The woman was allegedly gang-raped on Tuesday and was pronounced dead on arrival at the hospital.
Thirteen police officers have been transferred since her death.
The two accused – Dinesh Bishnoi and constable Manoj – took the girl to a hospital in a car when her condition deteriorated. Manoj later inquired about her condition and they fled.
According to the doctors, by the time the girl was brought to the hospital, she was already dead.
