Neighbor Bhondu Rehman raped a 1-year-old Dalit girl and also beat the victim’s mother.
A case of rape of a 1-year-old Hindu girl has come to light in Bahraikh, Uttar Pradesh. The victim was hospitalized in critical condition. The accused named Bhondu Rehman is 50 years old. Police arrested Rahman. The administration also announced that the work will be started soon. The incident happened on Saturday (February 17, 2024). After the rape, he also insulted and beat the victim’s mother.

According to media reports, this incident is related to Nanpara police station of Bachraich. Here, on Saturday, the victim’s family filed a complaint with the police regarding the rape of their 1-year-old child. In the complaint, the girl’s mother said that she went to the mustard field with her baby daughter. The victim was playing outside the field. Meanwhile, 50-year-old Bhondu Rehman, a resident of the neighborhood, came there. Bhondu maliciously pressed the girl’s mouth and raped her. Later, the victim’s mother heard the girl’s screams and reached there.
Seeing the victim’s mother, Bhondu Rehman fled the scene. The girl was bloody. The police arrived at the scene and took the girl to the hospital. On the instructions of Superintendent of Police Bahraich Vrinda Shukla, the girl was sent to Lucknow for better treatment. Here, the police registered an FIR under POCSO Act and other sections and started searching for Bhondu Rehman, who is absconding. Bhondu Rehman was arrested on Sunday (February 18). All senior officials of the district reached the victim’s house.
Superintendent of Police Vrinda Shukla said that she would try to get the case of the accused in a fast-track court. He said that the girl’s condition is not in danger. Evidence is being collected from the scene. The arrested accused is being interrogated by the police.
OpIndia spoke to the girl’s father. He said that among the hundreds of Muslim families in the village, a few houses of Hindus from the Dalit and OBC community remained. He claims that they have all been harassed before. When the idols are taken away, they are hit with bricks and in some cases even denied entry through the door. The victim’s grandfather told us that after the Yogi Adityanath government was formed, the village Muslims used to tell him, “As long as Mounki Baba’s government is there, do whatever you want.”
