Neglect of dalits hurt Congress: OBC leaders
Jind: The apparent neglect of the backward classes and dalits seems to emerge as one of the main reasons for Congress’s shock defeat in Haryana assembly elections, reports Vijender Kumar.
“Neither does the party’s state unit have any one from the backward class as its general secretary, nor does the Congress Working Committee have a backward as its member. The backward class has been completely ignored by the party in Haryana. Naturally, they feel alienated,” Captain Ajay Yadav, senior Congress leader and national chairman of the party’s OBC cell, said.
Capt Yadav further said the fight for the CM’s post even before a Cong govt could be formed also sent out a negative message.
Surender Kumar Saini, national OBC coordinator of AICC, said, “Congress did get votes from the backward classes, but not as many as it should have. There are many lessons to be learnt from this election.”
