Lucknow: Former Congress President Rahul Gandhi has been elected as a member of the All India Congress Committee (AICC) from Uttar Pradesh. Despite being an MP from Kerala’s Wayanad, a round of political discussions has started regarding the election of AICC member from UP. Only elected members of AICC can vote in the election of Congress Working Committee. In such a situation, it is considered important. Actually, Congress knows that it is not possible to return to power in Delhi by consolidating its base in UP. In such a situation, UP cannot be left like this. After this strategy of the Congress, once again the phase of political discussion has started about the possibility of his entering the election field from Amethi.
Congress sources said the people of Amethi in Uttar Pradesh, mainly Congress supporters, want Rahul Gandhi to contest from Amethi again. From here Smriti Irani defeated the former Congress chief in the 2019 general elections. Amethi used to be a stronghold of the Congress earlier. Former Amethi MLC Deepak Singh, who is considered close to the Gandhi family, said that the people of Amethi are waiting for Rahul Gandhi to become the Prime Minister of the country.
Many party leaders have claimed that once again Rahul Gandhi can present candidature from Amethi in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections. However, there is no signal from Rahul Gandhi yet. By the way, Amethi will remain the stronghold of the Gandhi family. This seat had a decades-old relationship with the Gandhi family. In such a situation, the hope of the workers remains intact.
In the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, Rahul Gandhi lost from Amethi but won from Wayanad. The Congress feels that Rahul Gandhi has hit the right chord with the Bharat Jodo Yatra. He will rejuvenate the party in the upcoming state elections and 2024 general elections. The major states going to polls this year, Madhya Pradesh and Karnataka, are ruled by the BJP. Whereas, there are Congress governments in Rajasthan and Chhattisgarh.
Congress is trying to form a national alliance. In Uttar Pradesh, if the Samajwadi Party and the Bahujan Samaj Party do not join hands with the Congress, then it may forge an alliance with smaller parties. Congress General Secretary KC Venugopal said that the Congress has already taken an initiative. During the Bharat Jodo Yatra, the party invited like-minded political parties to join it to fight the BJP.
