Modi’s ‘monopoly model’ has taken away jobs, says Rahul
NEW DELHI: Alleging that the Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s “monopoly model” has taken away jobs, devastated MSMEs and deprived people of opportunity, leader of opposition in the Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi has demanded that there is an urgent need to simplify GST and open up the banking system to small businesses to promote opportunities and generate jobs.
“The frustration in the eyes of a young startup owner from J&K reflects the struggles of most entrepreneurs and small-business owners in India,” Gandhi said as he shared a video on X from an interactive event hosted by the All India Professionals’ Congress (AIPC) in Jammu on Wednesday.
The event was attended by participants who included business owners and private sector professionals. During the question-and-answer session with Gandhi, participants highlighted their challenges which Gandhi drew upon to refer to a startup owner in his post on X.
“The systematic attack on small and medium industries through incompetent policies like a bad GST and demonetisation has turned India from a producing economy to a consuming one. At this rate we can neither compete with China nor ensure prosperity for all Indians,” Gandhi further alleged.
Gandhi went on to assert that India deserves better. “We must simplify GST and open up the banking system to small businesses to promote widespread opportunity and job creation,” he said.
In the video Gandhi is seen elaborating on his views as he highlights that the small and medium businesses, are “under severe attack from five to 10 really big monopolies”. This he cited to be the biggest reason for unemployment.
