Man gets lifer for raping Dalit woman in 2018
Agra: The court of additional sessions and special judge (SC/ST court), Ishraq Ahmed, convicted Premveer Yadav, 40, of raping a Dalit girl, then 18, five years ago. He was sentenced to life in jail and a fine of Rs 50,000 was also imposed on the convict.
Special public prosecutor Narendra Singh Solanki said, “During trial, 12 witnesses testified in court and the medical report confirmed rape. The statement of the girl detailing the crime played a crucial role in ensuring life imprisonment both under IPC section 376 (rape) and the SC/ST Act.” On September 18, 2018, Yadav raped the girl and threatened to kill her. He was arrested following a complaint filed by the girl’s family. TNN

One of the accused has been arrested, and the police are working to identify and apprehend the remaining suspects.
