Land lease prepared by forging signature of tribal, Collector gave instructions for investigation
In Balaghat district, a case has come to light in which land lease documents for 99 years were prepared by the mining company by using fake signatures of the tribals. The mining company has obtained 0.62 acres of land for use at a rent of less than Rs 500 per year. The District Collector has issued orders for investigation on the complaint.
In the complaint presented by Moreshwar Wadiye, resident of village Miragpur under Khairlanji tehsil of tribal dominated Balaghat district, it was said that there was 0.62 acres of land in the name of his father Anil Moreshwar. His father was badly addicted to alcohol. On the instructions of Abhishek Rai, resident of Nagpur, owner of M/s DP Rai Mines Company, his employees, taking advantage of his father’s bad habit of drinking alcohol, had convinced him to keep the stock of manganese on the land for 3-4 years.
The company fraudulently prepared documents to take the said land on lease for 99 years. His father was illiterate and his family members only taught him how to sign. The lease document has been made in the stamp of Rs 100 and the father’s signature recorded in it is fake. He remained outside in search of employment. He came to know about this when he returned after his father’s death. On the complaint of the tribal youth, the District Collector has issued orders for investigation.
Tehsildar Khairlanji S Marco said that on the complaint, he has been entrusted with the responsibility of demarcation of the land, inspection and verification of documents. He will present the investigation report before the District Collector as per instructions. Victim Moreshwar Wadia said that more than three months have passed since the complaint was made. Since no action has been taken on the complaint yet, he has filed a case in the court.
