Lakhimpur Kheri: Body of Dalit girl found hanging from a thin branch of mulberry tree

Nighasan. The body of a 15-year-old girl, missing for three days in a village of the area, was found hanging from a thin branch of a mulberry tree three feet high on Wednesday. The family members have suspected that she was murdered after rape. The police have sent the body for postmortem.

At 10 am, laborers were peeling sugarcane near the village. There is a mulberry tree here. The body of a teenager was found hanging from a thin branch of the same tree with a dupatta. More than half of the body was resting on the ground. The girl’s father told that he had gone to work as a laborer in another state as he did not have any land.

He came home before Holi. He has a son and four daughters. The second daughter had gone somewhere without informing the family on March 17 at 2 pm. She was searched, but she could not be found anywhere. The family members kept searching without informing the police. Inspector in-charge Mahesh Chandra said that on the information of the girl’s father, the body has been taken into custody and sent for postmortem. Something can be said only after the report comes. There is no mark anywhere except on the neck of the teenager.

Questions arising on the incident

The body was tied with an old dupatta to a thin branch of mulberry tree. More than half of the body was resting on the ground. There were slippers on both feet. The slipper of the right foot was broken. Questions are being raised that how can a person hang himself from a branch three feet from the ground. There are no signs of struggle after hanging. The tongue was also not out. The family members have expressed apprehension that her body was hung from the branch after the murder. Why the very old dupatta did not tear with the weight of the teenager… this is also being investigated.

A call came for threshing mustard

It is said that someone called the teenager’s mother to thresh mustard. After this she left. The teenager’s mother and her sister earn their living by doing labour etc.
