Kochi: Husband among 3 held for dalit woman’s death
KOCHI: More than a month after a dalit woman died by suicide in Kochi allegedly due to dowry harassment, the police on Tuesday arrested three persons, including the deceased’s husband and mother-in-law.
Sangeetha’s husband and first accused Sumesh KC (32), the second accused and his mother Ramani TK (56) and the third accused Maneesha AM (24), his brother’s wife, were booked under Section 498A (husband or relative of husband of a woman subjecting her to cruelty), 304B (dowry death) and relevant provisions of the Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe (Prevention of Atrocities) Act.
Sangeetha’s family had alleged dowry as well as caste-based harassment against Sumesh and his family.
