Kharge, Rahul to unveil Cong manifesto at Nov 6 MVA rally
Mumbai: The Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) will hold a rally at Bandra-Kurla Complex on Nov 6, where AICC president Mallikarjun Kharge and Opposition leader in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi will release the party’s poll guarantees, AICC general secretary Ramesh Chennithala said Wednesday.
Kharge and Rahul will address the Samvidhan Sanman Sammelan in Nagpur in the morning, and the MVA rally at BKC in the evening.
Maintaining that the MVA alliance is intact, Chennithala said there is no dispute over the seat-sharing formula. Accepting that in some of their constituencies, alliance partners have filed nomination papers, he was confident that they will withdraw them after discussions with senior MVA leaders. “Talks are in progress with Samajwadi Party leaders and we are expecting a decision in a day or two. There will be no friendly contest and MVA will secure a clear majority,” Chennithala said, after releasing a booklet, ‘Brashtayuti Maharashtrachi Durgati’, along with the Congress campaign song, ‘Yanda Panja’.
From media reports, he added, it seems there’s complete confusion in the Mahayuti alliance over seat sharing as BJP has fielded candidates in seats held by Shiv Sena and NCP, marking the start of BJP’s move to eliminate the two parties from electoral politics. “Shinde has taken several populist decisions, keeping in mind the polls, but most of them will fail to take off owing to non-availability of funds. I am told, the much publicised Ladki Bahin scheme has been shut down, as there are no funds,” he said.
Reacting sharply on govt’s 2-year report card, state Congress chief Nana Patole said it reflects progress of a handful members in the govt, while the entire state has suffered a loss at all levels. “The report is silent on the deteriorating law-and-order situation, and the rise in cases of assault on women and missing women,” he said.
AICC’s list of 40 star campaigners include Kharge, Rahul, Sonia Gandhi, Chennithala, Patole, Karnataka CM Siddaramaiah, Telangana CM Revanth Reddy, Kanhaiya Kumar, Balasaheb Thorat and Prithviraj Chavan, while NCP (SP)’s list include Sharad Pawar, Jayant Patil, Supriya Sule, Anil Deshmukh, and Rohit Pawar.
