In a historic move towards inclusivity, K N Renuka Pujar has become the first transgender person to be appointed as a guest lecturer at a university in Karnataka. The 27-year-old’s groundbreaking achievement marks a significant milestone in promoting equal opportunities in academia. Pujar joined the Kannada Department at Vijayanagara Sri Krishnadevaraya University’s Nandihalli campus earlier this month.
Renuka Pujar, a resident of Kurugodu in Ballari district, shared her inspiring journey to this milestone. “I’m very happy. After a lot of struggle, I have reached this stage. The university has helped me a lot,” Pujar was quoted as saying by news agency PTI.
