Karnataka Politics: Now BJP is stuck in this state! Rebel MP called the party ‘anti-Dalit’, Congress jumped into the fray
BJP MP Ramesh Jigajinagi: BJP MP Ramesh Jigajinagi said that his supporters are telling him that the party is ignoring Dalit representation. He has also raised questions on getting less representation.
Ramesh Jigajinagi News: Bad news has come out for BJP from Karnataka. Senior BJP leader and MP Ramesh Jigajinagi has opened a front against his own party. He has termed the party as ‘anti-Dalit’ after not getting a place in Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s cabinet. Jigajinagi is a prominent Dalit leader of Karnataka, who has been an MP seven times. He has expressed concern over the low representation of Dalits in the cabinet.
Speaking to the media, Ramesh Jigajinagi talked about the pressure being built by the people regarding his ouster from the Modi cabinet. He told how many of his supporters were disappointed at not getting a place in the cabinet. He felt that the BJP was neglecting Dalit representation. The seven-time MP even claimed that Modi Cabinet 3.0 is completely filled with ministers from upper castes. The Congress has also now targeted the issue.
Warned about BJP being anti-Dalit: Ramesh Jigajinagi
Ramesh Jigajinagi said, “I do not need a cabinet post. I need people. When I returned (to the constituency), many people cursed me. Many people argued with me that they had warned me about BJP being anti-Dalit.” He further said, “There is pressure from the people (for a cabinet post). Is this justice or injustice? I am the only Dalit leader in entire South India who has been elected (to Parliament) seven times. All the upper caste people have become (cabinet ministers). Have Dalits not supported the BJP? I am very sad.” Congress took a jibe
Meanwhile, Congress’ statement has also come out on this whole issue, which has once again called BJP anti-Dalit. Congress said, “BJP and Modi government are anti-Dalit. This has been said by senior BJP leader and seven-time MP Ramesh Chandappa Jigajinagi himself. Jigajinagi comes from the Dalit community. On not being made a minister in the Modi government, he said sadly – Many people are telling me that BJP is anti-Dalit. Modi government’s cabinet is filled with all upper caste people.”
