Karnataka CM directs industries dept to resolve land issues of Dalit entrepreneurs
Bengaluru, Oct 31 (KNN) Chief Minister of Karnataka Basavaraj Bommai has instructed the officials of industries department to address the issues faced by Dalit entrepreneurs with regard to allotment of industrial sites.
The allocation of industrial sites for Dalit entrepreneurs is as per the quota announced in 2009.
Last week a delegation of the Karnataka Dalit Entrepreneurs Association met CM Bommai and apprised him about the issue.
He instructed the additional chief secretary (industries department), Secretary of Social Welfare Department and Chief Executive Officer of KIADB to submit a Land Audit report and the shortfall in the allotment of land must be addressed within the stipulated time.
In district-level single window committees 60 per cent of Industrial sites for SC/ST entrepreneurs are allotted and 40 percent in state-level committees, said the association members.
They proposed the CM to hike the district level allotment percentage as the project cost of many entrepreneurs will be below Rs 15 crore.
Responding to this, the CM instructed to take steps for allotment of 70 per cent in the district level and 30 percent at the state level. (KNN Bureau)
