Kanpur News: A case has been registered against the classmates of a 16-year-old Dalit student in Sen Paschim Para area of ??Kanpur district in Uttar Pradesh for attacking him and forcing him to chant ‘Jai Shri Ram’. The video of the entire episode went viral on social media, after which the police on Sunday registered an FIR under the relevant sections of the Indian Justice Code and Scheduled Castes/Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act. No arrest has been made in this connection so far.

According to the information received, Assistant Commissioner of Police (Ghatampur) Ranjit Kumar said that a minor boy from the Dalit community had reached in front of the school gate on Saturday, when a group of students allegedly beat him up. He said that it is alleged that they did this to him because they had seen pictures of Bhimrao Ambedkar on his ‘Instagram status’. No arrest has been made in the case yet
Kumar said that the Dalit boy was later forced to chant ‘Jai Shri Ram’. He said that the victim lodged his complaint at the Sen-Paschim Para police station on Sunday. According to him, investigation has been started in the case, but no arrest has been made in this regard so far.
