Kanpur cops arrest transgender who set alight ex-boyfriend’s car out of anger
A transgender was arrested in Kanpur for allegedly setting her ex-boyfriend’s car on fire over the latter’s refusal to marry.
Kanpur Police arrested a trans person for allegedly setting the car of her ex-boyfriend on fire. The alleged act was carried out of anger after the boyfriend had refused to marry the transgender despite a purported relationship between them.
The ex-partner, identified as Anoop Shukla’s, car was set alight on Sunday night with approximately 2 litres of petrol. The police, in a statement, said that the accused arrived in Kanpur from Indore over a discord between both over marriage.
The police added that Anoop Shukla and the accused had befriended each other via social media, and they were in a long-distance relationship. However, Anoop’s refusal to marry caused strains between the couple, triggering the trans person to reach Kanpur, where Anoop was. Upon their arrival, they rented a scooter and headed directly to Anoop’s house where his car was parked. Enraged by the disagreement over marriage, the accused poured petrol on it and set it alight.
Subsequently, the matter reached the cops by neighbours of Anoop. They sprung into action and began combing CCTV cameras in the vicinity. Upon identifying the accused, the police checked all the passengers coming from Indore with the help of CCTV cameras and arrested the accused while attempting to flee with accomplices.
The police conducted an investigation and caught two other accused, Rohan Yadav and Deep Tanwani, who allegedly set fire to the car. They are residents of Indore and, as per the authorities, they travelled with the accused to Kanpur.
