International Transgender Day: ‘Chand Jalne Laga’ fame Shubhi Sharma celebrates at an old age home
Shubhi Sharma, who earned immense popularity for playing the role of Chanda in ‘Chand Jalne Laga’ celebrated International Transgender Day with old age people.
Each year on March 31, the world observes Transgender Day of Visibility (TDOV) to raise awareness about transgender people. It is a day to celebrate the lives and contributions of trans people, while also drawing attention to the poverty, discrimination, and violence the community faces.
She said, “Transgender movements have been increasing over the past few generations because of the biases that some people in the society would assume about the transgender community. While there are days commemorating transgender people who have suffered, TDOV focuses on more of the positive aspects of what being transgender means and takes direct action in changing the biases of people who don’t understand transgender.”
The actress hopes sunshine in her community. She continued, “I hope that one day all transgender individuals will have the freedom to be who they are, no matter what. And we won’t have to face the cruel judgments of society, people won’t laugh on us or make unnecessary remarks. We can just live our lives and be treated and respected like everyone else. Our community will see the sunrise and enjoy equal opportunities like everyone else.”
Shubhi, currently seen in shows like ‘Aaina’ and ‘Kaisa Hai Yeh Rishta Anjaana’, enjoyed her day at an Old Age home.
She shared, “Due to the advent of urbanisation, modernisation and several other factors, the joint families have shattered. People are busy with their jobs, and they hardly have any time and interest to look after the older members of the family. Therefore, they leave their parents in old age homes. Also, many insensitive people, abandon their parents. It was sad to listen to their stories. I enjoyed my time spending with them, feeling their pain and receiving blessings from them.”
Shubhi is known for featuring in shows like ‘Saath Nibhaana Saathiya’, ‘Mann Kee Awaaz Pratigya 2’, ‘Saavi Ki Savaari’, ‘Nath’, ‘Ishq Ki Dastaan – Naagmani’ among others.
