Indore: Man kills social media friend over transgender identity
INDORE: A man who had contacted a woman through social media for sexual favours strangled her to death upon learning that she was a transgender woman in Indore.
The severed body of the deceased was found on the service road of bypass in a sack on Tuesday morning. Family members identified the body as that of Zoya alias Mohsin who had been missing for the past two days. After this, a police team was formed and hours of CCTV footage within 500 metres of the incident were examined to gather evidence.
Police received information that Zoya had gone to Ashrafi colony to meet someone and the CCTV footages showed her reaching there. However, it was not clear where she went after that. Police teams detained a few people and after questioning, suspect Noor Mohammad was arrested from Alapura in Juni.
“The accused had come in contact with Zoya through social media. After getting familiar with her, he called her to his home to initiate physical relations. Here, when he came to know that Zoya was a transgender woman, he strangled her to death,” said DCP Sampat Upadhyay.
During sustained interrogations, he admitted to killing Zoya. He told police that he wanted to dispose the body and used a butcher’s knife to cut her up. He first disposed the lower portion at the service road on his scooter He hid the remaining body parts at his home and was going to dispose them later but was caught.
