Inappropriate touch on stage, Congress candidate faces backlash in Haryana
JIND: Narnaund Congress candidate Jassi Petwar landed in fresh controversy after a video went viral on various social media platforms on Saturday in which his supporters made efforts to touch a female leader in the presence of senior leaders. Netizens condemned the incident and demanded a strong action into the matter. Sirsa Congress MP Kumari Selja sought an action against those who made repeated efforts to touch Congress female leader Sonia Doohan in the presence of Rohtak MP Deepender Hooda a couple of days back during a rally held in grain market. She urged party high command to expel such leaders from the party and action should be taken promptly terming it a shameless incident in state politics.
In the viral video it can be seen that a person standing behind the female leader made efforts to touch her chest repeatedly. However, the brother of the female leader who accompanied her on the stage caught his hands and stopped him for touching her inappropriately. While this incident happened, Deepender Hooda, Sonipat Congress MP Satpal Brahmchari, Jassi Petwar and other leaders were present.
Soon after the video went viral on social media platforms, BJP condemned the incident by sharing the video on X.
Talking to TOI, Sonia Doohan said: “I am upset with the incident and soon action will be taken against him. It was a planned act and those who committed this incident were close aides of Congress candidates. They tried to touch me badly several times but no one paid heed towards the incident. However, I will expose the entire matter before the public very soon”, she added.
Talking to TOI, Kumari Selja said that even Rahul Gandhi raised the struggle of women. “We all are surprised how one dared to touch a female. I spoke to that Congress leader who has worked hard and emerged as a woman face in politics. She is angry and upset over this issue. Strongest action should be taken besides holding responsibility for the incident,” she added.
