In protest against stopping the procession, Scheduled Caste people warned of religious conversion.
Babri (Shamli). In village Raipur of police station area, Scheduled Caste people warned of converting to religion in protest against stopping the procession on the birth anniversary of Saint Ravidas. People of the society staged a protest outside the Gram Panchayat Secretariat.
After three hours, an agreement was reached between the CO and the people that the procession would be taken out after getting permission from the administration. After this the protest ended. The people of the society have started the process of getting permission from the administration to take out the procession on March 3.
A procession was being taken out on 24th February on the birth anniversary of Saint Shiromani Ravidas in village Raipur. On receiving information about this, the police stopped the procession as there was no permission. On Wednesday at around 9 am, Scheduled Caste people gathered outside the Gram Panchayat Secretariat and started a dharna. The people of the society said that they have been taking out the procession for the last several years, but this time the police stopped the procession.
While announcing the procession on 29 February, he warned that if his procession was stopped, he would convert to religion. This matter also went viral on social media. On receiving information about this, CO Police Station Shrestha Thakur and Babri Police Station Incharge Rajendra Sharma reached the spot and tried to convince the people by talking to them. After about three hours, at 12 noon, an agreement was reached between the CO and the people of the society that the procession would be taken out after taking permission from the administration. After this the protest ended. After this, the people of the society have started the process of taking permission for the procession. Rajendra Kumar of the society told that a procession will be taken out in the village on March 3. For this, an application has been given to the administration for permission.
