How conscious are we about constitutional values!
The basic basis of the dignified life and development of the people of any independent country is the constitution of that country. Exactly like this is the constitution of our country. The core of our constitution is the Preamble. The preamble is original because, in it various values like liberty, equality, justice, fraternity are described. Whose glimpse is visible in different parts of the constitution. But in reality, what is the situation on the ground of constitutional values and how aware are we about them? An experience of this is shared with us by some students of Sagar district of Madhya Pradesh.

LLB (Law) student Deendayal keeps his views like this, when the country became independent, and the constitution came into force. The circumstances were very difficult then. There was a lot of lack of education. When a person will not be able to get educated, then how will he understand the constitutional values. As the educational institutions became stronger. There was little understanding towards the constitution and constitutional values. Then people started emerging from social taunts and bad practices. But, even today the feelings of high and low have not gone from the mind of the people. For example, I have seen that people belonging to different castes belonging to the Scheduled Castes treat each other as untouchable. In the village, even today the situation is such that the upper caste people forcefully make the lower caste people work as labourers. In such a situation a situation like bonded labor comes to the fore. In such a situation, the constitutional value like freedom of the people is violated.
Further Kapil tells us that, I have seen and experienced that, educational institutions are source of fraternity and unity. But, even after reaching there, it is enshrined in the mind of small children that, I belong to upper caste and he belongs to lower caste, so we cannot share our food with a lower caste child. In such a situation, a constitutional value like fraternity is affected here.
When we talk to Veeru, then his style is like this, from ration shops to banks, we see violation of constitutional values.
Veeru says that, when we stand in public queues somewhere, we see that the story of those who have more economic clout is that the line starts from wherever they stand. In such a situation, our constitutional value like equality of opportunity is not visible.
Then, after this, Sunil shares his experience saying that, during my Madhya Pradesh Public Service Commission (mppsc) government coaching, I experienced that, class 12th level (below qualification) teacher (mppsc) used to do coaching. . The teacher was not reshuffled even after the students complained to the Higher Education Officer. In such a situation, we feel that our constitutional values like right to education and justice have been violated.
When we talked to Sonu about constitutional values, Sonu says that constitutional values are largely ignored at the village level. It has been my experience that, when there is any religious event, temple construction in the village, donations are raised from all the people of the village without any discrimination. But when there is a store of religious events, then high-low, untouchability becomes visible there. In this situation, the constitutional value like equality of people gets hurt. The dignity of the person is also affected.
On the other hand, Prem believes that there should be a teacher in schools from primary education itself to read the constitution. Then in true sense the roots of constitutional values will reach the grass root level in the society. Prem us aap beeti bhi hona, he says, I saw during a private job that my classmates did not discriminate against me physically, but had a discriminatory attitude towards me mentally. Due to which my work was affected. So, I finally had to lose my job. Doesn’t this past of love point towards a crisis on the constitutional value like justice?
Constitutional values are actually in the form of moral values. The stronger our ethics, the more we can strengthen our constitutional values. That’s why today we also have a great need for moral education. Apart from this, it is also the responsibility of all of us to increase public awareness towards constitutional values. When the spread of constitutional values in our country will reach the grassroots level, then in true sense the communication of feelings of patriotism will be widespread and will be the source of unity in our India.
