‘Horrifying, complete collapse of law and order in Maharashtra’: Rahul Gandhi on Baba Siddique murder case
NEW DELHI: Rahul Gandhi on Sunday criticized the Maharashtra government following the death of NCP leader Baba Siddique (Ajit Pawar faction), who was shot by unidentified assailants on Saturday night.
In a post on X, Rahul Gandhi expressed his sorrow, saying, “The tragic demise of Baba Siddique ji is shocking and saddening. My thoughts are with his family in this difficult time.”
He further added, “This horrifying incident exposes the complete collapse of law and order in Maharashtra. The government must take responsibility, and justice must prevail.”
According to doctors at the hospital, Baba Siddique suffered two gunshot wounds to the chest before being brought to Mumbai’s Lilavati Hospital for emergency treatment.
He was admitted around 9:30 pm on Saturday, and despite extensive resuscitation efforts, he succumbed to his injuries shortly after.
Mumbai Police confirmed the arrest of two suspects, identified as Gurmel Singh from Haryana and Dharamraj Kashyap from UP, both in their 20s.
